Unfortunately, this is most likely a faulty handset, meaning those buttons or the control board inside it have failed.
There are a few steps we can take to clean and reset the system though.
First remove the batteries from this handset
then clean around those buttons with ear buds and surgical spirits (meths). Give a blast of compressed air (or just air dry 10 minutes) to dry it off, then replace the batteries and check .
If the problem still persists at that point, then the electrical membrane or control board under those keys is bad. At that point the handset would need to be replaced, as there is no practical repair option available.
