Hello, I’m Nathan, and I’ll be assisting you today. My livelihood depends on your positive feedback, so your satisfaction is my highest priority.
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble.
Is the recorded message you are getting the one you expect to hear, or does it sound different than usual?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Hi Nathan

The message I recorded is fine. But the ringer still doesn't ring altho when I hear the ring from another phone I pick up and can hear the person who is calling. But when the answer phone button is set it doesn't record an incoming call.

Hoe you can sort it.

I am still awaiting your help with the problem with the telephone. Altho the other phones in the house ring with an incoming call, this machine does not ring, neither does the answer phone work. Please advise.

Good morning, and sorry I missed you earlier, Angela. I'm in the US, on a much different time zone. When you pick up the line, do you hear a normal dial tone, or is there a fast tone, a few beeps first, etc?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

There is a normal dial tone

Thank you for confirming. As a next step, please unplug power and phone line to the panasonic unit for 15+ minutes to reboot it, then test if the ringer/answer function returns or not.

Unplugged as you advised but still no joy on ringer or answer phone.

Okay there are a few settings we have to check here, but at this point it is more likely a hardware problem, as this is a very old model. Please locate the volume up/down buttons on the front of the panasonic. These should be to the lower right, near the answering system buttons. While in standby mode (not on a cal) press the up button repeatedly to adjust ringer volume to desired level, then test again how an incoming call behaves. Nathan

Still no luck - yes it is rather ancient. Any other suggestions? Realise that you are in a different time zone -where are you in USA? We have a home in Florida for the winter.

I'm on the opposite side, in Arizona. Last thing to try is to try adjusting that volume button again while it is ringing (during an incoming call). If still no change it would confirm a hardware fault. This plus the answering issue would both require repairs that simply aren't feasible, and I believe this is a mid 90s model so there are no parts for it any longer. The entire system would have to be replaced, but I can recommend some options for you if it should come to that. Would you want another similar unit that has both fax and answer together (These are getting hard to find these days)?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Would be grateful to have details of a similar unit if you know of any.

To make sure we have proper compatibility, you are in the UK?

Yes that's right.

Assuming so here is the model I'd suggest: or are the same thing, just the 75 has both corded and cordless handsets. You can also expand the system with additional cordless handsets: there are other models available, and at lower cost, I suggest this one because it is the newest, as a 2012 model. The next best option that you can still purchase is just old stock of a 2007 model. WHile that would still work fine, it will get harder and harder to find supplies and parts for in the future, so buying the newest model makes the most sense.

Yes, thanks for your advice and I have decided to keep the old machine for faxes and will buy a separate, fairly cheap answer phone.
