Customer Question

Hi, I have a Biasi boiler and it doens't give hot water. I see that the water pressure is around .3 and not close to 1bar.. There are too many valves and I don't understand which is the right one to adjust the pressure.

Plumberpro :

Hi .I am assuming that it is a Combi boiler? The only wat to drop the pressure would be to release some water . this can be done by opening a radiator bleed valve and letting water come out till the pressure drops . there a few things it could be for no hot water , but need some info whilst you are at the boiler, thanks. Toby

Customer: Hi are you available now?
Plumberpro :

Yes

Customer: Excellent, can you help me with the procedure please
Customer: Yes, it is a combi boiler
Plumberpro :

Sure.

Plumberpro :

Is the pressure gauge reading 3 bar?

Customer: No 0.3
Customer: Lower than 1
Customer: You there?
Plumberpro :

Yes

Customer: I need to leave for work in 15 mins... Is this something that you can help me resolve before that?
Plumberpro :

No , these things can take a while to do properly. I am available this when toon

Plumberpro :

Evening,

Customer: Ok, I'll pick his up later this afternoon
Plumberpro :

Ok , what time roughly

Customer: My friend is at home. I'll ask him to pick this up when he is awake.
Plumberpro :

Ok

Customer:

Hi ya

Plumberpro :

Hello . is your heating working ?

Customer:

No it isnt . still the same

Plumberpro :

Ok . can we try to pressurise the boiler , is fill it up bwith water till it gets to @1.2 bar

Plumberpro :

Are youbthgere?

Customer:

Yes here .

Plumberpro :

Are you there?

Customer:

and next to the boiler

Customer:

how do I do that...

Plumberpro :

Ok . can you see a flexible hose under the boiler anywhere?

Customer:

yes

Plumberpro :

Ok . it will have a tap on it , there may be one or may be 2 .open the tap/taps till pressure. Goes up to 1.2 then turn them off

Customer:

ok ..trying it

Customer:

oops it in 2 now

Customer:

did I increase too much?\

Plumberpro :

That's ok. Reset the boiler if there is a reset button . if not turn the power off for a few seconds then back on

Customer:

ok

Plumberpro :

Ok , then try hot water, but listen to the boiler . is it trying to start, can you hear the fan running , can you hear sparking,is trying to light?

Customer:

no nothing ..

Customer:

its still the same

Plumberpro :

Ok . do you have a fault codevbonbthe boiler or any LEDs lit?

Customer:

leds lit

Customer:

the first on is blinking green

Customer:

if i open the tap the first and the last are blinking

Plumberpro :

Ok . these might give an indication as to where they fault lies, but first I will need the model if the boiler , I know it a biasi

Customer:

and the manual says - lack of ignition

Customer:

no ignition signal from the full seq ignition device

Customer:

yes biasi

Customer:

manual has three model - M96.24SM/c

Customer:

M96.28SM/c

Customer:

m96.28SR/c

Plumberpro :

Ok . ignition will not happen if the fan isn't running.

Customer:

how to turn it on :(

Plumberpro :

If its not running then it is faulty and needs replacing.are you sure you can't hear the fan?

Customer:

I can hear some noise everytime I OPEN THE TAP

Customer:

oops sorry for the caps

Plumberpro :

Do you feel comfortable taking the front case off?

Customer:

but i cant see any gas / light heating through the glass opening

Plumberpro :

If the fan isn't running it won't light. The fan runs, the air pressure switch makes , then gas valve opens , then sparks , then ignition

Customer:

oh ok.. let me try opening the front case

Plumberpro :

Are you comfortable taking off the front cover?

Customer:

yes

Customer:

hiya .. I have taken it off

Plumberpro :

Ok . when you have cover off open tap , be carefully not to touch electrical connection , and feel the pump.is it running?

Plumberpro :

Also turn on the heating and check pump

Customer:

ok

Customer:

as soon as I open the tap I hear a click and then a right light

Customer:

and realising our heating is not also working

Plumberpro :

Keep heating on , reset the boiler put your hand on the pumpn. Is it running?

Plumberpro :

Should feel vibration

Customer:

ok

Customer:

one silly question - which is the pump

Plumberpro :

Its got a round face , bottom right hand side.

Customer:

got it

Customer:

yes it is vibrating

Plumberpro :

Ok . reset again . thevfan is at top left, looks like a stubby cylinder . is there any sound coming from this?

Plumberpro :

The fan

Customer:

ok let me try

Customer:

i can feel the pump slightly vibrate

Customer:

but no fan

Customer:

just hear a small rumbling noise

Plumberpro :

Ok .it seems like the fan house failed. It will need replacing . can you do this yourself?

Customer:

I can try .. but with what should i replace with

Plumberpro :

To be honest , it is probably something a boiler guy should do unless you feel compfident

Plumberpro :

Fans cost around £140 , not cheap.

Customer:

umm ..let me better not try hen

Customer:

then*

Plumberpro :

Ok , sorry that its not an easy fix. Would you mind rating me?

Plumberpro :

If you still need further help we will still be able to talk via this page

Customer:
