Drained central heating to repair 3 port valve now oil boiler getting too hot and shutting down no hot water reaching pump which appears to be working.

Sound like you gave air in the system and no flow causing the boiler go overheat and lock out. Turn off the pump in case it burns out. Then bleed all the rads and any on the pipework in the cylinder cupboard. Manually open motorised valves, check the tank us filling
