I am ready Shefin.
How are you trying to scan?
I wrote a whole paragraph on that in my question Shefin
Already Tried: I place the document on the scanner glass.I open the scanner on my computer. I choose "scan" on the scanner, choosing the icon "to PC Local (USB) and Doc.type automatic. The scan shows on the computer as it is scanning but I can't find the scan at the destination, with Desktop or Documents.
I apologize for the inconvenience. Please wait a minute.
You see the scan on the computer. Right?
When it is scanning, you will see Show details in the scan window.
Please click that.
Yes. In a little box that comes up titled "Scanner"
I don't see "Show Details" What I see is a box with the scanned image on a grey background on the left. On the right is a text box that has Kind, Resolution, Size and more
Select More and check if you see target or destination folder.
there's no "more" text box. I just told you that there are more texts. They are Size, Rotation angle, Auto selection, Scan to, name, format, and Image Correction
Select Scan to.
And select it as Desktop.
So that you will get the scan to the desktop.
Then, try scanning and check the scanned file on the desktop.
As per my paragraph, I have selected scan to desktop and scan to documents and I don't find the document there.
Change Name, and try once again too.
I'm looking for Image Catcher
Check in Applications.
I mean Image Capture
I can't find Image Capture
Found it. It says "No camera or scanner detected"
Do you see the Option (Alt) key on your keyboard ?
Do you see the "-" (minus sign that you see on the print & scan window, and not on the keyboard) button?
oops, I pressed the "Remove" button by mistake
That is okay.
Have you done resetting the printing system?
ok I added the printer again
By clicking the + sign. Right?
Try scanning again.
Try Image Capture again.
What should the settings on the scanner itself be? On that little sreen on the copier?
That does not do anything with it, if Image capture does not see the scanner.
Still saying No scanner connected
Have you setup wireless on the printer before installing the printer?
Yes. I print all the time.
Could you please setup wireless once again with the wireless name and password?
how do I do that?
Please wait a minute, so that I can help you.
I've just printed our conversation
That is alright.
Which means the wireless connection works
Do you see Settings or Home button the printer control panel?
If that is not setup properly, the scan does not work.
If you use USB cable, it will work properly.
I see the set up icon. I've pressed it and the Maintenance is up
Please use the arrow keys and check if you see ELAN setup.
Ok. I've got "to start setup etc"
Please select your wireless name and press Ok.
Enter your wireless password.
It is case sensitive.
It says I should hold the WPS button on the access point then press ok of the device. Does that mean the on/off button on my hub?
Please do not select WPS.
Choose Standard connection.
Go back and choose Standard Setup.
I don't know what/where WPSA is.
Please do not choose WPS setup.
Please go back and select Standard Setup.
ok. Ive got "Standard setup" "WPS" and 'Other Setup"
Selecft Standard Setup.
And choose your wireless name and press OK.
Then, enter your wireless password.
Then it says Enter passphrase. Is the a number on the hub?
That is your wireless password.
There's "Wireless key" and "Admin Password"
Are you using the wireless key for your computer to connect to internet?
No. My hub
On the hub, you see wireless key. Right?
Yes. It has letters and numbers. On the scanner I can only get letters
found the numbers
You can enter the characters when the keyboard is displayed on the printer's LCD.
Great. It says "Connected to the access point"
Now, reset the printing system again and add the printer.
Okay. We will try installing the latest driver.
Are you using Mac OS X 10.7?
OS x 10.9
OS X 10.9
Update? Isn't 10.9 more up-to-date than 10.7?
We are installing latest driver for the Canon.
So I must instal a previous version?
Canon update, not OS X.
The update is for the latest version.
Otherwise, download and install the ICA driver from the link below.
The download for the latest version of my Canon printer is busy.
If that is not working, download and install the ICA driver.
Lets hope this works. It's more than halfway downloaded already
Okay. if so, please complete the download and install it.
Great all done
Try scanning again?
Then, reset the printing system again and add it.
Then, try scanning using Image Capture.
IT STILL SAYS NO CAMERA OR SCANNER CONNECTED
Have you done resetting the printing system? Not just removing and adding it.
Restting is when I hold the ALT key down and click on the -
I don't see the word RESET any where though
Yes, then you will get an option says Reset Printing system.
I don't see that
Could you please try that again?
Or hold down the Control key while clicking in the box that appears above the "+" (plus sign that you see on the print & scan window, and not on the keyboard) button, then choose Reset printing system… from the contextual menu.
Right. Have done that and have added the printer again. Now when I open the Image Capture I still see that no device has been added
Please download and install Image capture driver from the link below.
Have you installed after downloading it?
Try opening Image Capture again.
Still the same message. There is the following in the left hand side of the box:
I mean Shared:1
Please turn off the printer, computer and router.
Wait for two minutes and come back.
Select the shared one.
Do you see the scanner under Sahred ?
Do you see the scanner under Shared ?
I turned everything off and left it off for a few minutes and now it's all on and I get a big error message now when I try to scan
May I know the error?
Have you tried Image Capture?
I do it with Image Capture. The box comes up. I choose the scanner under "Shared"
The Error did not come up this time. The image scans into the box but not onto the desktop. On the right hand side of the box at the bottom, are 3 buttons. One is Hide Details, the next is Overview and the third is Scan. I click the Scan one to scan. Is that right?
Yes. Change Scan to option to desktop. Change name od the folder to scan 1
I've done that. Nothing.
It is scanning. Right?
Do you see Preview?
I see the preview yes.
If so, it must be in Desktop.
Please check thoroughly.
it might be a folder.
Where will i find the folder?
on your Mac desktop.
My desk top is virtually empty. I would see it if it was there. Can it be off the screen or something?
Could you please search it with the name that you have given for the scan?
I can't find it anywhere! i agree it has to be somewhere on my computer
Have you used the Search option?
Could you please change the Scan to to any of you folders?
Ah. Ive just noticed that the format is JPEG. Should I change that?
And check if it is listed over there where you se the Scan to?
I still see the preview but no scan. My previous scanner was an Epson and when I did a scan I would OK the preview and then scan to desktop.
Change Scan to from desktop to any of your folder.
Nope. This is ridiculous.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you
Why does Image Catcher not pic up the scanner?
Do you have MP Navigator installed on your computer?
Not that I know of
As a last try, download and install the below driver too.
done. trying scan again.
What are you trying to scan?
It's just a document.Shefin. We've been going at this far too long. Let's call it a day. I have other things to do. Sorry I can't rate you. I'll get you tomorrow again.
Thank you for your patience with me.
Have you tried to scan it as Jpeg?
Bye for now.
Shefin, you know I can't rate you. I still cannot scan. I had to travel 24 minutes one way today to deliver the document that I was trying to scan, by hand. I am too tired now. It's been a long day. I'll come back to you tomorrow and we can sort this thing out. In the meanwhile I hope that you're looking in to some possibilities that we haven't tried yet.
Thank you for the reply.
I hope it will be resolved soon.
Thank you for your time.
Hi Shefin. I never did solve this problem. Did you find anything new out about it?
Shefin on on my way to an evening shift at work. I'll be back at 22:30. Is that too late to carry on?
