Ive just bought a Canon Pixma MG3550 but cannot get it to

Resolved Question:

I've just bought a Canon Pixma MG3550 but cannot get it to print from my Macbook. I have the latest OS and have done the Software Update. The Macbook recognises the printer but when i go to print nothing happens. The Green power light starts flashing and that's all. After a few minutes the Printer monitor on my Macbook says the printing is completed even though it hasnt started. I then restarted my Macbook just incase that was required after the Software Update but it made no difference. I have removed all the orange plastic tags from the printer as shown in the manual. I am using a USB connection rather than wireless. Any ideas what I should try next?

Please tell me the MAC OS X version on your MacBook. Find it as follows:

Click on the multicolored apple logo, then choose About This Mac, and read off the 10.X.x MAC OS X version #.

1. turn off and disconnect the Canon PIXMA printer, both from the power source and from the computer. Leave it that way until asked to by the installation routine, or until the installation is done.

2. Remove the printer from the printers list, if it is listed there.

3. Remove any program associated with the operation of the Canon PIXMA MG3550, if there are any.

4. Reboot your computer.

5. Download your new driver for this printer, for MAC OS 10.7 of course, from:
http://www.canon-europe.com/Support/Consumer_Products/products/Fax__Multifunctionals/InkJet/PIXMA_MG_series/PIXMA_MG3550.aspx?DLtcmuri=tcm:13-1081558&page=1&type=download

- scroll down to the bottom of that page, click on the Accept & Download button.
Then download the MG3550 Full Driver And Software which is a DMG file.

6. Install software from the DMG file... which should, once downloaded, be mountable as a disk-like entity, then readable from for various files/programs, to run or copy as needed for the install.

Nope. Did exactly as you recommended. Downloaded all the necessary files from the link you provided, went through the set-up procedures including setting up the wireless connection. Got to the 'execute test print" but my laptop couldnt find the printer wirelessly - kept saying it was offline. I tried with a USB cable, the laptop found the printer, tried the test print, nothing. The printer monitor on my laptop says the document was sent to the printer and seemed to think the printing was complete but the printer didnt do anything. I'm starting to think I should take it back and get a refund.

By all means: take the printer back, and exchange it for another. It may be non-functional, since it seemingly cannot actually accept print jobs either from wireless connection or from USB cable.

Of course, you might want to Reset the Printing System on your MacBook, before taking it back.
