I have an Epsom 415 combined printer and scanner. It prints

I have an Epsom 415 combined printer and scanner. It prints fine but when I attempt to scan it just keeps saying " PC not connected". Any ideas how to fix ? Thank you

No. I wouldn't be keen to do that

So how are you scanning (direct from the device) or through the printer software running on the PC?

Customer:

Direct via a USB cable

KamilAnwar1 :

what happens if you scan from the printer software?

Customer:

the same. All I get from the scanner ( which is also my printer) is the message " not connected"

Is that the exact message that appears?

Which operating system is it?

Customer:

Communication error Connect Computer is exact message on the scanner/printer

System is Apple

Which version of Apple?

And which printer is it Epson NX415 or SX415 ?

Printer is XP-415

I don't know version of Apple. Computer is from 2008

If you click the apple icon on the top left side and select about this mac

you will see the version number for OS X

I feel a bit daft. I downloaded the Epson programme. However to install I need my administrator name and password ***** the Mac which we have lost ! Any good ideas ?

KamilAnwar1 :

That is the password ***** setup when you configured the Mac. Unfortunately, i cannot help with that because it is a different issue and you would need to ask a question separately for that.

I will go digging for the password ***** and admin name and see what I can do. Can I just leave "chat" open for a while ?
