Printer message says there is a Printhead carriage jam. Obstruction

Resolved Question:

Printer message says there is a Printhead carriage jam. Obstruction has been removed but ink carriage will not move and message persists. Help!

As i understand there was a paper stuck in the printhead carriage way

have you been able to remove that paper or its still there

Yes, paper removed

ok..please turn off printer and unplug power cord

Michelle :

manually try sliding the carriage to and fro

Michelle :

let me know if it moves freely or stays parked at one end

yes, paper removed

do it carefully as parts inside printer maybe hot

stays parked at one end. will not move

Michelle :

ok..keep the ON button on printer pressed for 10 secs

Michelle :

wait for 2 mins

plug in power cord back in and turn on printer and check

Printhead carriage jam

when you turn on printer where is the printhead positioned...left right or center

Customer:

Open printer access door. Clear any obstruction. Check installation of printhead and ink cartridges.

Customer:

Close door

ok please open the dorr and remove the ink cartridges

Michelle :

I cannot remove cartridges as they are on the extreme left under a cover and they will not move

it seems to be a mechanical jam

What can I do?

Michelle :

please blow air in the printhead carriage area so that if anything is still stuck it gets dislodged

also let me know how old is the printer

Have blown air in but no change.

Customer:

Printer is about 3/4 years old

Having blown the air, turned the printer off then back on, we seem to be back in business!

Michelle :

the carriage is jamming from the inside..it seems that some bits of paper have got stuck inside

Michelle :

oh ok that sounds great

please try a print..maybe 2-3 prints

Michelle :

just to be sure it does not get jammed
