1. Disconnect the power cord(s) from your internet/wireless modem/router device(s) for about 5 minutes, then reconnect.

2. Turn off the printer, then disconnect power cord from printer for a minute, then reconnect, then turn it back on.

Did you do this:




  1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.




  2. Hold down the Control key as you click in the list at the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the menu that appears, and confirm.


    After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners preferences is empty.

Delete all of the printers again, then go to Finder -> Applications, then drag any Canon item you see there

The MAC address of all of the "nearby printers" (the four that apear as phantoms) is a digit different to the MAC address from the LAn settings that I've just printed off.

Although there ARE two sets - Wired LAN and Wireless LAN

Well, there was no Guttenprint for MP600R, so I selected 600 series.
Tried to print. The printer icon appeared in the dock momentarily then disappeared. No prnting.

Sorry, tomorrow, can you disconnect the Ethernet/network cable from printer temporarily, then make sure printer is powered on, then connect the USB printer cable from printer to computer, then go to Apple menu > App Store, then it should find some Canon update, then install it. Then see if you can add printer normally again.
