Thank you Freddy. In fact the flashing has now stopped when one switches it on but if one tries to print, the paper does not move and the machine makes a horrible buzzing noise for a few moments. Sounds like a paper jam of some kind. Should I just post it back to Canon for a repair? - it is such a useful machine.
It is not under warranty. The noise comes from what would be the platen on a typewriter, on the right hand side as one faces it. I am in London.
It is an iP100 not 1000.
Thanks. I have ordered it at £150 as you suggest. No point in repairing an old machine. I've had several good years' use out of it.
Thanks for all your help.
