We have quite a few Canon Pixma cartridges 545 and 546. We have now bought a Pixma MG4250 printer so can I use these cartridges when it needs replacing? Cannot afford to replace the spares really.

The cartridges must have codes like CL-746 , G-47, PG810, PG88
just with the numbers you gave i will not be able to check the compatibility with your new printer.

They are PG 545 and CL546, thank you.

This ink cartridge is compatible with the following Canon Pixma printer models:
Canon Pixma iP2850
Canon Pixma MG2450
Canon Pixma MG2550
Canon Pixma MG2950
Please check the model once again your printer must be MG2450 and not MG4250
if its MG2450 then yes it is 100% compatible.
