My canon pixma ix6550 printers orange light is flashing

Customer Question

Hi My canon pixma ix6550 printers orange light is flashing (5 times) I have cleaned and re installed the head. The printer goes through its start up and parks the head and resumes flashing. I can`t get it to do anything else. If it is the head that has given up are there any issues installing a new one in the printer?

Hi, My name is ***** ***** i will be assisting you
does it flash any error code as well along with 5 orange flashes
also let me know if recently there was a paper jam
Expert:  Michelle replied 2 years ago.
the indication of 5 light flashes indicates an issue with the printhead
either the printhead is loose or has gone faulty and would need to be replaced
please follow the below steps
close the cover and turn off unit
unplug power cord
keep the ON button on unit pressed for 10 secs
turn on unit and try to remove ink cartridges and printhead
if you are able to remove it reseat the printhead and check if the orange flashes go off or continue
if however the printhead stays parked, close the cover and open again after a minute
if still the printhead stays parked or if after reseating the flashes continue the printhead would need to be replaced
if within warranty you may contact Canon to get it replaced or else may contact any local printer repair store for the printhead replacement
i hope you understand that in case of hardware faults i can diagnose the faulty part and suggest reset steps but cannot make a bad part work again
