~I have been printing with my Canon ipf6400 successfully today, however I needed to change paper which IO have done successfully but now the computer says 'printer not connected. I've done everything I can think of disconnected printer rebooted computer reinstalled printer but still get this error msg. I am tearing hair out I have been trying to do an ordinary print for three hours and just don't know what to try next.

Printer is almost new, it has only printed 107 images, the error message is on the iMac desktop computer says 'printer not connected'Printer says 'ready' which indicated it is waiting for the computer to issue an instruction to print.

Please do the following: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.Hold down the Control key as you click in the list at the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the menu that appears.After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners preferences is empty.Add the printers you use.Then use this link: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH14143?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US

Ive tried holding down the Ctrl key just get normal preferences/printer menu
I've tried holding down the Cmnd key - ditto-
I've tried holding down the alt key -ditto -I went to the webpage you show it is for users of OS X Mavericks
I am using OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

I am no further forward. I cannot spend any longer tonight on this it is 20:30 I need to get homeplease do not charge my account I will come back tomorrow to try to resolve this issue.
