My HP Officejet 6500 has just stopped working. When I looked

Resolved Question:

Hi, my HP Officejet 6500 has just stopped working. When I looked at the power cord, the green light was off on the adapter. I unplugged everything and the green light will stay on as long as I do not connect back to the printer. As soon as I place the other end in the printer I can hear a slight click and the green light goes out and there is no power to my printer. Any help would be great. Thanks

Hi. Welcome to justanswer.

This means that the adapter you are using has become faulty as it is showing the green light when there is no load. But as soon as you connect it to the device, it turns off as it is unable to take the load. You will need to replace the power cord of the printer and you will be good to go

Thanks Nathan. I was thinking it might have been something in the actual printer! If you're sure it's the power cord, I will order a new one!

There could have been two possible reasons. One that I have stated earlier and other that there could be some short circuit in the printer. But as you said that you hear a clicking sound then it eliminates the second one.

Okay thanks. The click sound is like a shorting sound from the printer. Like a small spark sound then the light goes off!

If that is the case then repair would be required

I'll try a power cord and see what happens!
