Customer Question

I had a paper jam and cleared it but I now have a printer error showing "5100"

Hi John. Welcome to justanswer.

Open up the front paper tray and look for any piece of object that could get stuck inside the printer. Things like paper clip, staple, debris and small pieces of paper may have got stuck in there by accident.

Check the plastic strip that runs behind the print heads. Clean it and then check if the error is still present.

If the error persists then reply for further assistance

Unfortunately I am unable to understand your response because it is not clear, There is a black strip and a clear one, which do you mean and how do I clean them, I have tried with a soft brush but to no avail it is still showing error code 5100
Expert:  nathan_mills replied 1 year ago.

I meant the clear one. Check if there is any grease or ink on that strip. I am sorry if my response was not clear enough. You can check this link. It is for the different model but the procedure is nearly the same. CHECK HERE FOR THE INSTRUCTIONS

Do check for the bits of paper left inside the printer if any.

If the error is still there then reply so that I can provide you the next step.
