Have you removed the old cartridges?

have a useless disc that came with the printer. Am unable to find how to get to the cartridges to change them as the printer tells me, added to that it keeps telling me to change to a suitable size paper for the machine - have been using A4 with little trouble then for no apparent it refuses to print, the current problem is that I am unable to get an instruction manual so can not proceed. I am over 90 and am only semi literate with computer. My machine is a fairly old iMac.

No problem. Just lift the front LCD panel up and then open the cover as shown in the image I have attached. The cartridges will slide to the middle.
