Customer Question

My house was built in 1854 on a piece of land surrounded by unadopted land, purchased from the local town corporation. A wall was built around the property, a length of which formed the side wall of the house building.
Is there any presumption in law that the walls lay totally within the boundary of the property?
The adjoining land was not purchased and built on until about 1909, and the wall in question was not built into any adjoining structure next door.
