I have stood as a guarantor for someone in rented accommodation

Customer Question

I have stood as a guarantor for someone in rented accommodation for the past 18 months. They have never been in arrears, but I would like to be released from being guarantor.
Is there anything that I can do to be released from this agreement?

Thank your for your question. My name is Jo and I will try to help with this.

In order to give you answer tailored to your circumstances I will need to ask you some preliminary questions so that I can consider your position from all angles.

Can you tell me when the tenancy ends?

Also, is this an AST? If so, what are the dates of it?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

The tenancy has no end date. It would end when the tenant terminates the rental.

I don't know what an AST is.
