Hi, i am renting a property. I have assuredhold tenancy agreement.

Resolved Question:

Hi, i am renting a property. I have assuredhold tenancy agreement. Last week a lady from the council visited the house and she's been told from one of my housemades that there are 11 people living in the property. The property is not suitable for HMO and the landlord doesn't know that we are that many people.
I would like to ask can the council charge me for letting 5+ people live in the property?

Alex Watts :

Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help you with this.

Alex Watts :

If you are the tenant then no.

Alex Watts :

The Council can not charge you for letting it for so many people.

Alex Watts :

If the Landlord did not know then the wont charge the Landlord either

Alex Watts :

Also you wont have to pay extra council tax for the 5+ people

Alex Watts :

But the Landlord may ask you to ask the extra people to leave

Alex Watts :

Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?
