I am a private landlord and have a protected tenant living

Resolved Question:

I am a private landlord and have a protected tenant living in one of my flats (I do not live in the property). I have just discovered that this tenant while paying a very low rent has bought a freehold house and lives part of the time there and part of the time in the flat.
Does this fact alter his protected status?

Sadly not.

Alex Watts :

If it was a benefit entitlement then yes it would.

Alex Watts :

But when it comes to protected tenants and rent then no

Alex Watts :

I am sorry if this is not the answer you want and certainly not the one I want to give you, but I have a duty to be honest

Alex Watts :

Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?

Customer:

OK thanks for this information.

Customer:

I have another related query if it is alright to ask you.

Customer:

It is that if I am able to offer alternative accommodation in a flat which has the same facilities, is close by but does not have such big rooms or great view can the tenant reasoably refuse to move into it?
