we rent privetly a semi detached cottage. we have lived there

Resolved Question:

we rent privetly a semi detached cottage. we have lived there for 45 yrs without any problems with any of at least a dozen neighbours. the new neighbours have been in 4 months we both have dogs as have previous neigbours we also share a large lawn next door come past our front window to gain access to there house. next door are damanding from the landloard a fence to separate the lawn which thay would have approx 80% of the lawn we disagree and dont want it thay tell us we dont have a choice it going up can the lanlord do this with out all partys agreeing?

It may well be that the landlord can do what they want here. It will depend a bit on the terms of your tenancy. Is there anything in your tenancy agreement about the lawn being shared with neighbours? If not, and on the assumption that the landlord owns the freehold for both houses and the lawn, then I am afraid he can put up a fence between the 2 properties if he wishes.
