I own a Buy To Let property, the tenants absconded in June,

Resolved Question:

I own a Buy To Let property, the tenants absconded in June, only midway through a year's tenancy contract which did not have a break clause.
Are the tenants still liable for the council tax for that period they absconded until the time I am able to relet the property? It has been vacant since they absconded and still vacant now.

Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help you.
The tenant is liable until you take back possession, not when you relet it. But only when you take possession back.
Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

By taking back possession, do you mean when I accessed the property?

Expert:  Ash replied 1 year ago.
Yes. When you take back control.
Does that help?
