What is the maximum height of a fence a person can put

Customer Question

What is the maximum height of a fence a person can put around their property?
My neighbour has a fence which is some 8 ft tall, but I thought the limit was around 6?
The fence is in the back garden, to the left of our property (we live in a semi detached house)
This is for Somerset, England.

Hi

In brief, you are correct. 2 metres. Or 6ft in old money.

You can report the neighbour to the council.

I thought as much, I don't mind it, I would love a fence that high myself!
