Who is responsible to remove the asbestos from the outside

Customer Question

Who is responsible to remove the asbestos from the outside of property if we have a leasehold. Who needs to pay for it?

Hi there

Usually it will be the landlord responsible for removing asbestos as part of their 'repairing obligations' unless your tenancy agreement provides otherwise. If the land (where asbestos is) is public then you should refer this issue to your local council as they are likely to be the responsible 'duty holder'.

Hope this helps
