I have an rent a flat on a fixed term agreement for 2 years,

Customer Question

Good morning,
I have an rent a flat on a fixed term agreement for 2 years, however I have rented with a friend who signed the agreement as well
Now I', planning to leave the flat as we are not getting on well anymore as she is bringing people around, making noise during the night etc
the agreement ends on may 2017
I'm wondering if I can end the agreement even if my flatmate does not want it
this a clause which says
“This agreement may be terminated by either part giving to the other at least two months’ notice in writing to expire at any time after six months from the commencement date of this agreement as specified o this clause “term” of this agreement”
please advice, I do not want anything to do with this person anymore
Another question is, in case I can put the notice on my own, will I lose my deposit?
thank you very much

Hello Erica my name is ***** ***** I will help you with this.

Either party can give notice. The agreement then comes to an end once notice expires, assuming you have been there for 6 months.

If your partner wants to stay on, he/she can. But the landlord needs to make a new agreement.
So you can leave giving notice without any worry.
Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?
