Hello, I’m Nathan, and I’ll be assisting you today. My livelihood depends on your positive feedback, so your satisfaction is my highest priority.

Nathan :

Can you tell me the make/model of the device?

Customer:

Panasonic DVD DMR-XW380. The problem started after I found the remote under a tablet. Could it be a magnetic issue?

Nathan :

I'm not quite clear which you're referring to,

Nathan :

is it the remote that is flashing constantly?

Nathan :

or the light on the player itself?

Customer:

Yes the unit. The light appears beside the timer recording indicator light and the unit has been constantly changing channels or pausing live TV and refusing to stop

Nathan :

If you take the batteries out of the remote, does the main unit keep doing this?

Customer:

yes

Nathan :

Okay that means there is something wrong with the player. The firmware may be corrupted, it could have been damaged by a power surge, or something happening to the remote may have made it wonky.

Nathan :

Can you try unplugging power to the player, at the mains, for 5+ minutes

Customer:

will try this

Nathan :

then press and hold the power/on button at the front (not on remote) for 60+ seconds

Nathan :

keep holding it, while replugging, and for another 60 seconds after, then release

Customer:

ok

Nathan :

thanks

Customer:

That seems to have sorted it, could it have been caused by the tablet being too close to the remote?

Nathan :

I don't think so, but anything is possible I suppose.

Nathan :

It was more likley from the buttons being held down too long on the remote than from a magnetic type issue

Nathan :

I'm glad the reset did the trick though.
