2004 Renault Megane mk2 convertible 1600cc 16v How do I stop Mode Test coming up every time I start it? I can get rid of it by pressing trip reset but it comes back at the next start up.

Do you have the service indicator on (as in the car needs servicing, or this needs resetting)?
have you tried pressing the button, so the mode test is performed and then trying again (as it should disappear then)?
did you try removing the battery connector for a few seconds, to reset this?
PS: be aware that battery cable removal would reset the clock, trip meter, and the radio code.
