my partner and i bought my father-in-laws council house,he later took ill and we sold his house and our own house and bought a bigger house, we are now splitting up and they are trying to claim back the £100,000 profit we made on his house even though we only have £80,000 equity on our current house,which would mean i will be £20,000 in debt and i will receive nothing from my current home. where do i stand

about 12 years ago maybe longer,and we paid £12,000 for it,my ex keeps telling they are entitled to the money back under scotish law
