Resolved Question:

If my brother builds a house on my mother's land, who does the house belong to?

Thank you for your question.

It belongs to your mother. The owner of the land owns the building.

I hope this helps. Please leave a positive response so that I am credited for my time.

Thank you. This is the reply I had hoped for. Can I be cheeky and ask another question on the back of that? If not, that's fine!

My question would be that if my brother had unpaid debts, that the bailiffs could not take his house as it is built on my mother's property therefore belongs to her?

Expert:  JGM replied 3 years ago.
That's correct, the house can't be touched as he doesn't have title to it.
