Resolved Question:

should I be paying maintenance when I have children half the time overnight and I get no help from their mother.

Thank you for your question.

The parent who gets Child Benefit is usually the one entitled to child maintnance. However the "absent" parent gets a substantial discount because of the number of nights per year he has the children.

Happy to discuss further. You might want to try the online maintenance calculator to find out what your liability is likely to be.

I hope this helps. Please leave a positive response so that I am credited for my time.

I have the children 7 nights a fortnight so does that entitle me to claim from my wife.
