Can a father apply to court to be added to a child's birth certificate
Expert:  JGM replied 1 year ago.
Thank you for your question.
What you do is go to court to apply for a Declaration of Parentage. That is when the court decides who the father of a baby is. You don’t need to do anything to change the birth record if there’s been a Declaration of Parentage made by a court. The court will tell the General Register Office and the birth will be re-registered. You can then order a new birth certificate if you want one.
I hope this helps. Please leave a positive response so that I am credited for my time.
