Customer Question

my friend added a girl on social media as her profie said she was 16 and she looked older after adding her and telling her she looks beautiful she then said that she was actually 15
He then immediately apologised for adding her as he thought she was older and said he would delete and block her. He's worried she may go to the police and report him. Has he got anything to worry about

No, he acted entirely correctly. He can't get into any trouble as he didn't commit any offence. I hope that helps. Please leave a positive rating so that I am credited for my time.

Thanks he wasn't sure as he's 22 and thought maybe it was considered wrong

my friend just wanted a follow up question. would the police actually be allowed track him down at all as no offence was commited. but could they still try looking for him through computers and ip addresses or would it be illegal for them to do so
Expert:  JGM replied 1 year ago.
If they thought an offence had been committed they could do so but I don't think they will here. He signed off as soon as the girl confessed her age.

the likely hood of her making a false accusation against him would be very slim I sppose as well

Yes, I agree.

which I suppose is the only way police would get involved at all
Expert:  JGM replied 1 year ago.
Yes. I doubt the girl would complain where he left the site and deleted her immediately she disclosed his age.

Unless she's attention seeking or thinks it's more than it was which again I guess is highly unlikely
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Also this happened nearly 3 weeks ago so he would have heard something by now wouldn't he
Expert:  JGM replied 1 year ago.
Not necessarily as things can take time to process but I don't think that he has done or said anything criminal so he should forget about it.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Oh I'm sure he'll try to but he's still quite nervous and scared
Expert:  JGM replied 1 year ago.
He shouldn't be. He hasn't done anything wrong.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
He's just a very nervous panicky type of guy always fears the worst in everything including work and relationships I'm trying to reassure him but I can't think of one definitive thing to say to complete calm him
Expert:  JGM replied 1 year ago.
OK
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
He's a bit worried she will report him still and make it sound worse than it was
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Surely the chances of that are basically zero
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
All she had of his was a user name
So no real name or address or any personal info
Expert:  JGM replied 1 year ago.
I agree.
