Resolved Question:

I have a Stihl MS 170 chainsaw. I cut a load of logs today, and when I'd finished I moved the master control lever to 0 to cut the engine, as usual. However, this did not stop the engine, and I had to leave the engine to run until the fuel had run out. Any ideas?

The kill wire has come off the kill switch or the wire that goes to the coil has broken. The kill switch has to short out the spark to kill the engine. Has just one wire from kill switch to the coil.
