MAke and model? Have you checked the file bowl for debris?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

b riggs and stratton 13hp the fuel line is clear

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 2 years ago.
Does it restart immediately? If so it is fuel problem. And the carburetor float bowl needs to be checked. The needle valve passage may not be letting enough fuel into the bowl.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

it will start after a few tries but will cut out again

i have checked the float and needle cant see anything wrong petrol runs steady when fuel tap turned on

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 2 years ago.
If not a petrol problem, it has to be loosing spark. That would require changing the coil.
