I have A Ramson 180 with a Briggs Vangard V-twin !6hp. It

I have A Ramson 180 with a Briggs Vangard V-twin !6hp. It will only run on the front cylinder, and backfires throw the carb. I have cleaned the carb & jets.changed the spark plugs and swopped the ignition moduels round. check the compression (@150 psi on both cylinders) And it still only run on the front cylinder. Help please Mick

Did you check compression on the dead cylinder? If it has compression, check the valve operation. Do you have the engine model number? Example,(###) ###-####b1

You may find bent or broken pushrod from valve sticking.

yes both cylinder have 150 psi. Sorry I don't have the model no with me

with dual coils, I assume it is overhead valve engine!

we don't know for certain but we have now found the link wire between the coils with the 2 diodes in is now burnt and melte
not convinsed that Curtis B was full coverce with is engine

Did you give me full model number? If in doubt, about the diode, remove the wire from each coil and see if engine runs correctly. I am very familiar with Briggs engines!

I have now found the link wire and 1 diode has burnt out. Have ordered a new wire but will take 10 days to get to me thanks.

id you remove the kill wires at each coil and see if engine runs correctly?
