No error message just rotating circle on full screen app then returns to start screen App shows email waiting don't know lot about computers have shut down and restarted nothing helps
Sorry about that. Let's try:
Right-click on the mail app, then Uninstall it
, then go to Store app, then search for Mail, then download/reinstall it, and check.

You did uninstall right?
When you are in Store app, just start typing Mail
Or when in Store app, move your mouse to the right edge to get the Charms bar, then click on Search, then search for Mail
If that does not work, when in Store app, right-click near the top of the screen, then select Your apps, then select 'Apps not installed on this PC', then locate icon for app 'Mail, People, Messenger & Calender' , then click on it, then select 'Install' from selection at bottom of screen.

Not tried Just open app to read emails Don't really send any Just confirmations of orders from Amazon etc
