My father has recently sold his stamp collection in Hong Kong

Customer Question

My father has recently sold his stamp collection in Hong Kong for the equivalent of £140,000. He has no receipts for the collection built up over 40 odd years. The sale was at auction and split into some 400 lots with multiple buyers. When the funds are remitted to the UK what is the tax position, I guess apropos capital agins tax? Thanks.
