Customer Question

Retired Teacher of Art. Twice a year I receive a small commission for calligraphic work. As I am a tax payer, what amount can one earn tax-free?

Hi.

Take a look at the tables 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14 personal allowance tables here. The amount of income an individual can receive tax free is dependent on their date of birth. If you are over 65 and your total income exceeds £26,100 in 2013/14, you lose some or all of the age allowance.

I hope this helps but let me know if you have any further questions.
