My married couples allowance is €8160 ,& my personal allowance

Resolved Question:

My married couple's allowance is €8160 ,& my personal allowance is € 10660.
My total income for the year will be less than € 27000.
My question is why does my tax coding notice for year 2014/2015 shows only €4083 against
Married couples allowance?

Hi.

The reason that your tax code has a figure of £4,083 for married couple's allowance in it is because tax relief on that allowance is limited to 10%. You are a 20% taxpayer so the allowance needs to be halved so as to limit the amount of tax you save because of it. Take a look here for confirmation.

I hope this helps but let me know if you have any further questions.
