My wife died in August 2014. As I understand it I am still able to claim married couples allowance. Is this correct

Hi.

I'm assuming that your wife passed away in August 2013. You typed August 2014 in your question.

You are entitled to the married couples' allowance in the tax year that your wife died with no deduction other than if your income is too high for the full amount of the allowance. You won't get the allowance for the tax year following that during which your wife passed away. Take a look here for more information.
