My husband owns three flats which he rents out. Property is managed by an estate agent. He pays service charges to the agent on these let properties and also water rates. Is he allowed to deduct service charges and water rates from the rental income ? Many thanks.

Hello and welcome to the site. Thank you for your question.

He is allowed to deduct service charges and water rates from the rental income additional to any charges levied by the agent in property management.
