Hello and welcome to the site. Thank you for your question.

Passport is not the criteria set for taking out cash out of the country. One is governed by Money Laundering Regulations. There are certain guidelines...

If you are going on holidays then what is reasonable cash for holiday spending.

Are you also taking money in the form of travellers cheques?

As a guide up to Euro 2,000/GBP 2,000 or US$5,000 in cash should not be a problem. It would be adviseable to carry documents to demonstrate it is personal funds withdrawn from the bank for personal use.

You could take similar amounts in travellers cheques.

I am not an expert on Egyptian rules and regulations... you would have to check this with authorities there.

I hope this is helpful and answers your question.
