I de-registered VAT in 2012. Can my takings still go up to

Resolved Question:

I de-registered VAT in 2012. Can my takings still go up to just under the threshold or do they for example have to be £10,000 less than the threshold because I was previously registered?
Thank you,
Brian.

Hello Brian, I am Keith, one of the experts on Just Answer, and pleased to be able to help you with your question.

No, the threshold remains at 83K in any one year. The fact that you were registered and subsequently de-registered is irrelevant. Once you reach the threshold you will have to register again and go through the same depressing process. If you do not reach the threshold you do not need to register again.

I do hope that you have found my reply of assistance.
