I have a Panasonic DMR EX 99V- it is displaying a U99 message.

I have a Panasonic DMR EX 99V- it is displaying a U99 message. I have tried unplugging it and leaving it overnight and turning it on and off repeatedly but nothing has changed. The only function working is the clock display - DVD tray won't open or close. Is there a quick fix for this or does it need to go to a repair shop?

Have had it for 17 months. I don't think there was a power outage although I wasn't at home during the evening- I came back to find the U99 message and nothing I tried seemed to work

Thanks for the reply. If you haven't tried this yet, please disconnect the unit from power, then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then plug it back in and press power once.

Hello Peter and sorry for the delay. If this code stays on the player, it indicates either the regulator IC or one or more capacitors in the power supply circuit have failed and are preventing the player from booting up properly. Unfortunately there are no resets or quick fixes for this problem and the unit will require service. On average the cost of repairs exceeds the cost of replacement in this player. I'm really sorry for the bad news but there isn't a quick fix for this problem. If you need further assistance let me know.
