Hello, my name is Shahid, I'll be happy to assist you.
Please allow me to ask you a few questions to diagnose the problem.

- Do you get too wide picture if playback DVD on this TV?

Thanks.

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

Can you please get a DVD player for test?
We can confirm TV picture size with DVD to narrow down the issue.

Thanks.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I do not have a DVD player

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

OK, any other video source like gaming console etc?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I am sorry I just have the TV and Sky box

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

OK, is it possible to test sky box on another TV?
This way we can verify sky box performance.

Thanks.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I am sorry only this TV

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

ah OK, our options seems very limited here, can't locate manual for TU-DSB30 as well.
Please set picture size at auto or normal in TV then change picture aspect ratio in sky box, please post back does it help?

Thanks.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Doesn't make any difference

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

Is TV connected to antenna for air TV channel signals?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

No it is connected via the skybox and dish

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
Andrew,

We really need another video source to split the issue as either it is TV or sky box causing over size picture.
A DVD player would help us here, can you please get one from a friend or neighbors?

Thanks.
Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
Also, have you tried to unplug TV and sky box power cords form wall socket for 10 minutes to reset, replug and check?

Thanks.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I will try that but am watching a programme I want to finish first

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

No problem, please take your time and post back how reset worked.

Thanks.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Thanks, it will be about 40 minutes time

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

No problem, I'll be waiting the info.

Thanks.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

There is no change after TV and Skybox being turned off for 15 minutes

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

Did you unplugged both units from wall sockets/ power source?
We need to unplug power cords of TV and sky box to disconnect them from AC supply for hard reset.

Thanks
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Both units were unplugged from the wall sockets

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
OK, I'm out of ideas now as we don't have another video source to narrow down the issue, let me open the question to other online Pro's input, hopefully some one will soon take this question to assist you.

Thanks.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Thanks Shahid I will await your further response

Hi Andrew,

One more thing that come to my mind and we can try.
How the sky box hooked in TV? is it HDMI cable connection or regular AV wires?

If HDMI cable runs from sky box to TV, can you please try AV wires instead of HDMI wire?

Thanks.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

There is no HDMI port on the skybox. The connection is made via SCART leads

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

OK, so it could be component or composite video connection as scart support both type of video connections.

Does sky box has yellow-red-white RCA sockets for regular AV wire connection?

Thanks.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

no

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
OK, apparently it seems TV problem and most probably firmware problem that isn't working to change picture size.
Have you tried to upgrade TV frimware?
If not yet, please check following Samsung support link to download firmware upgrade file and use a USB memory stick to update TV firmware.

Please post back how it worked.
Thank you.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
