TV Repair Questions? Ask a TV Technician for Answers ASAP
Hi, welcome to Just answer
Please tell me its complete model number
and how old is it ?
Have you also tried to use another socket ?
yes tried different sockets and fuses and confirmed that they were working with other electronics first :)
ill go check the model numbers now and its about 3 years old
hi kevin the model number is XXXXX
its not clear but that last 2 could be either 2 or a ? mark
do you want the SN?
no problem...model number is XXXXX I need :)
:) ok i have it too :) figured just as well to write it down when i had tv turned around :)
and the standby light will not even blink
and whi,e i was at it i tried turning it on with the switch at back of TV
no there is no light at all
thats why i checked fuses first off :)
the problem is with the main board inside the unit
it seems that a component has failed on that unit and so it won't turn on at all
if it was something else the standby light will usually flash to give a error code
ok i take it thats not fixable by me?
Yes, I do not recommend it as a DIY as you know this require testing and checking with a multimeter
I believe you have already tried to check the fuse and the socket
bugger it .... yes i have ...i always check the obvious things first :D
if it was a computer id turn it off and then on again :)
usually there is a HV capacitor on the main board that will cause these issues
:) yes that is simple fix for us :)
would it be a commmon part to fix?
I always recommend if the capacitor is bad, the board should be replaced to avoid future problem
ok i might have to see if its covered by warranty still
Yes you can but I think it is covered with 2 years of warranty
Sorry about the bad news

will cost around £90 all inclusive
and thats likely to last a few years?
