Haier flat screen tv. Will not turn on. red light at bottom

Haier flat screen tv. Will not turn on. red light at bottom is flashing and it is making a repetitive clicking sound every time the light flashes.

Customer:

LET40T3.................. three years old. It is perfect when it eventually switches itself on.

can you count the number of flashes

or it just flashes continuously ?

Customer:

It is irregular. This morning it has flashed dozens of times. I simply unplug and switch it on. It then flashes again for a long time. Today it has taken me over 30 minutes of doing this repetitively. The picture has just come on.

the problem is with the main board of the unit

it seems the capacitors on the main board are bulged and causing this issue

KevinWhiteJA :

if you take the back off the unit you can check the main board

Customer:

I've just looked at the back of the TV. Do I unscrew all the screws around the edge of the back paNEL ?. Inother words. remove the entire back ?

Can the main board be removed easily?

Yes that is right

KevinWhiteJA :

if you are good with electronics then this is not a difficult job for you

Customer:

Do you have any idea of a guide price for such a board. I won't hold you to it - just guidance please

well sometimes replacing the capacitors on board will usually solve the problem...a new board will cost around £115

Customer:

Will the capacitors be visually and obviously damaged to the naked eye

KevinWhiteJA :

Yes but sometimes testing the board is also required

Customer:
