Samsung 55HU8500 Curved LED TV Had TV 2 weeks and a "BOOK

Resolved Question:

Samsung 55HU8500 Curved LED TV
Had TV 2 weeks and a "BOOK ME" label with a green dot has appeared in top right corner and will not go away. Not a big deal but very annoying.
Any suggestions please other than taking set back to retailer?

Does that little label appear regardless of source/input (cable/satellite, bluray, game, media/apps, etc)?

And it doesn't move, or change at all?

Okay initially can you go into the tv setup menu and look for a Factory Reset option there

Customer:

trying to avoid that as it means a complete re-set up

Nathan :

it is under menu, then support, then self diagnosis

There is one other setting we can check first

if it doesn't help, you'd need to proceed with the reset

go into the setup menu, under support, then under Use Mode, and make sure it is set to HOME (not store)

This is certainly not a normal function, and may be the result of corrupted firmware or a hardware fault

Perhaps try unplugging power at the mains overnight, to see if that will help.

If not, this is most likely a firmware glitch, and next step is looking in the tv menu for a software/network update.

Failing that, I'd be contacting the retailer for an exchange before the return policy is up.
