Pioneer VSX-1019AH Connected HDMI IN from TV to HDMI OUT

Customer Question

Pioneer VSX-1019AH
Connected HDMI IN from TV to HDMI OUT on receiver.
Used an optical cable from TV to receiver.
Connected centre speaker to appropriate connections on receiver.(Only connected 1 speaker to test setup)
Also connected sub to subwoofer connection on receiver.
I believe the correct setting on the receiver should be TV/SAT
No sound at all
If this is correct. why is it not working.
Thank you in advance
