This is a symptom of receiving signals from the wrong transmitter.
Please try to disconnect the aerial cable from the back of your TV and then do another scan.
After this has finished, please plug the aerial cable back in again and do another retune.
This should fix the problem.
If not, please verify that the aerial is pointing in the correct direction. The easiest way is to compare yours with a neighbours.

Have tried scanning as suggested, but no improvement. My arial is in the loft, and always has been, and I am unable to get up there myself, so will have to wait until tomorrow to see if it is all right. Thank you for your help so far. I will be in touch tomorrow.
Arial is fine. Have scanned once more and it is much better although not perfect,but I can live with that! Thank you for your help.
